Maria Görts (born 1956) holds a PhD in art history and works at Dalarna University. She has researched Swedish art during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and has published articles in anthologies and museum catalogues in addition to her thesis Det sköna i verklighetens värld (Beauty in the Real World). Görts is currently working on a book about art education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the 1920s and 1930s and how it was affected by changes in the art world during those decades. The book will be published by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2017.
