Restaurang Allehensrätten

Sagovolvo (Bella Rune & Jonas Nobel)

“Restaurang Allehensrätten” by Sagovolvo (Bella Rune & Jonas Nobel) was a performance in which the audience was led on a hike through a forest on Djurgården in Stockholm. During the walk, small dishes were served, inspired by ingredients that can be found and gathered in nature. Within the staged scenes along the path, the food, ingredients and characters were given different political meanings. In one scene, for example, blueberries associated with childhood were served while oversized blueberries appeared in the forest, accompanied by a monotonous voice speaking about labour rights from loudspeakers in the trees.

Sagovolvo described the performance as “a training camp for the imagination”, inviting the audience to reflect on habitual structures and to imagine alternative realities. The act of eating together was central to the piece, echoing the meal as a traditional site for social and political exchange.

The book documents the performance through its script and photographs by the artist Jenny Källman. Structured as a cookery book, it combines the script, documentary images and the free tabloid newspaper handed out during the performance with the recipes that made “Restaurang Allehensrätten” possible — instructions for action and change.
